Street Renamed In Honor of Firefighter Christopher J. Pickford

A Kew Gardens, Queens street where Firefighter Christopher J. Pickford, who gave his life in the World Trade Center rescue, grew up -- 122nd Street between 85th and Hillside Avenues -- today was renamed Firefighter Christopher J. Pickford Street to honor his memory. Attending the ceremony were (l to r) State Senator Serphin R. Maltese, Queens County District Attorney Richard A. Brown and Councilwoman Melinda Katz who joined Pickford family members Thomas (father), David (brother) and Linda (mother) and Amy Whalley, Christopher's girlfriend. (9/4/2002)
