The Integrity Bureau investigates the allegations of corruption and brutality leveled against members of the law enforcement community and violations of the public trust by public officials, municipal employees and attorneys.

Over the years, the bureau has focused a great deal of scrutiny on police conduct, working closely with the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau to investigate allegations of police corruption. It has investigated and brought criminal charges against police and corrections officers, court employees and attorneys.

The bureau also investigates allegations against civilians who attempt to subvert the integrity of public servants. It has obtained numerous convictions of people who have offered bribes to police officers, city inspectors and other officials, who have been refused by honest public servants and reported for investigation.

It is critical that public confidence in law enforcement and other public officials is maintained. The efforts of the Integrity Bureau have been invaluable in sending a clear message to the public that public official corruption will not be tolerated.
