Bureau Chief:
Assistant District Attorney
Brad A. Leventhal
After an indictment, homicide trials assistants, who are some of the most experienced prosecutors in the office, assume responsibility for prosecuting the case through completion.
The prosecution of a homicide case will entail many court appearances prior to the actual trial. Court appearances will include plea negotiations and the completion of all necessary pre-trial hearings. Pre-trial hearings take place so that a Judge can determine if the identifications of the defendant, physical evidence obtained from the defendant or statements made by the defendant to the police have met legal standards to be allowed into evidence at trial.
Because of the dedication and experience of the assistant district attorneys in the Homicide Trial Bureau, the successful prosecution of homicide cases continues to be outstanding.
