EAST ELMHURST MAN SENTENCED FOR STEALING EXPENSIVE MIRRORS FROM LINCOLN TOWN CARS IN QUEENS VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced today the conviction and sentencing of a man for stealing seven expensive side view mirrors from Lincoln Town cars in the vicinity of Queens Village.

District Attorney Brown said that the defendant, Damon Williams, 30, of 107-13 32nd Avenue, East Elmhurst was sentenced to 1½ to 3 years by Judge Lee Cross.

District Attorney Brown said, "This is the sort of crime which makes a difference in the perception of our quality of life. We should be able to park our cars in our driveways without worrying."

According to testimony during the case, the defendant was arrested after a police officer saw him in a driveway beside a Lincoln Town missing its mirror. The bag tossed over his shoulder was stuffed with seven of the side view mirrors.

Assistant District Attorney Peri Kadanoff of District Attorney Brown's Auto Crimes Division of the Organized Crimes and Rackets Bureau, which is under the supervision of Assistant District Attorney Gerald A. Brave and the overall supervision of Assistant District Attorney Brian J. Mich, was in charge of the case.
